My prayer today,

Thank you for a change of plans.

Although I am not a fan of the snow you have given us today,

I am often thankful for a "snow day" when I can give up any obligations that I have.

Sometimes it's disappointing

And sometimes, like today, I am thankful for the excuse to be able to just stay home after years of traveling to work on days like this.

Help me to choose which home project to tackle that I have been putting off and and also, thank you for the chance to rest too.

Help us to take care clearing the snow and in our walking and driving when we resume our "outside" lives.

As we see the snow-covered ground, thank you for the visual reminder that our sins are forgiven when we ask, white as snow--justified (just as if we never had sinned), because of your love for us. Thank you for this loving gift.

Dear Lord,

As struggles come, as hard as they are and may even bring me to my knees, and sorrow sometimes fills my heart, my faith will not be weakened.

It is not always easy, but my faith tells me that you are always there to give me strength to get through it.

Today, Lord, may I love others.

It is easy to love those who touch my heart,

(and I am so very thankful for them),

But help me to love those who are, in my mind, less loveable.

I might need baby steps to be able to tolerate some with kindness first.

Help me to remember that my neighbors, whom I am called to love are:

The store employees,

Co-workers,

Repairmen,

Those who live physically next door,

ALL of those who attend my church or other activities,

The people in the other cars,

The people I pass on the street or in the stores,

The people who do things that annoy me,

Or even those who hurt me, 

And everyone else.

Remind me that you created all and despite their trespasses or lifestyle,

You love them in their brokenness or what I perceive as broken.

Help me not to judge and to see them as you do.

Remind me that because you love us all, you ask us all to love one another.

I imagine this is your greatest desire with us foolish people.

Help us to remember what we do unto the least of them, is as if we did it unto you.

And just maybe,

Just maybe, that love I show to them,

Will be the love they need to be kinder and to know your love and to share it in their lives too.

Today help me to show my love to you in this way.

Dear Lord,

You know how much in awe I am of your creations. 

I always stop to enjoy a rainbow.

When we stay somewhere, I long for a room with a view:

The vast blue ocean or your majestic mountains

Or a garden of beautiful flowers.

All can take my breath away.

I try to capture these moments with my camera so I can savor them again and again, although they are not quite the same. 

But one day I won't be waiting for these moments.

Heaven will have a view beyond what we can imagine.

Thank you for the rooms you have prepared for us. I am sure they have an awesome view.

But in the meantime, thank you for your glorious earth and the refreshing views that restore my soul.

Dear Lord,

I thank you for the many years you have given me here on earth.

There have been many heartaches and trials and bleak times that were a struggle to go on,

But the blessings, Lord...you know how much I love the family you have blessed us with.

The best part about growing old, is seeing your own children grow and prosper and know you.

But even greater than that is the blessing of grandchildren, the special bond and joys that fill our hearts.

I think of the joy my parents felt being grandparents and am glad they had that opportunity which I didn't understand the true depth of until I became one.

Thank you, God, for our family. I am thankful every day.

I also pray, Lord, for those who have outlived or have been separated from their family. 

Please give them other purposes in life and give them joy and peace and comfort them.

I thank you, Lord, that if we come to you with our requests and in thanksgiving, even in the darkest times, we can receive the peace that transcends all understanding. You know our needs. May your calming spirit be with us like the waves of the ocean gently soothing our troubled hearts. 

Please give us peace, even when our minds have trouble comprehending the "whys".

And give us peace, not only in our souls, but with one another for you are the God of peace in this troubled world.

Dear Lord,

There are so many facing troubles today. I pray you will help them to feel lifted up by your presence. Give them the courage to face today and hope for tomorrow. Help their hearts to be stilled and to feel you and to be encouraged by your faithfulness. We don't know what tomorrow will bring but with you, we will see it through. I love that your word tells you are "ever-present" or "very present"--you always are, right now and forever. For now, give us strength for today.

Dear Lord,

I am constantly in awe of your creations--all the littlest details of how things work from the ants who can carry things many times their weight and communicate with each other, to the workings of our own bodies with its 78 organs, over 200 bones and all fitting together in your perfect order and each with its purpose. Thank you that I continue to learn about your world (thank you for the internet), which all proves to me over and over that we were created by a divine Creator. Thank you for your perfect and amazing designs.

Thank you, Lord for my citizenship. Help me to remember that I belong to your kingdom and as a member, I need to continue following the rules established by you. Like studying for citizenship in our earthly country, give me the desire and willingness to learn more and more about you in the Bible, which not only gives us history but also the future. Thank you for providing a home church on earth that not only teaches about citizenship but comes along side us and provides us with the fellowship of believers, co-heirs to your kingdom. Thank you for a safe place to worship on the Sabbath.

Lord, I love these words from you today. You are with us in every step, even ones we don't think about. When we mess up and trip, you are holding our hand. We hold our children's hands when we cross a street or in a busy crowd to protect them. Life is full of obstacles and hazards for us. As a parent for our children, we can't hold their hands forever, but you never let go. Don't let me take for granted your protection and guidance for me and my loved ones. Thank you.

Dear Lord, 

Today I pray for those who are searching for something and easily led astray. There are many in this world today tempting others with promises of delivering messages from the dead. I pray people are led away from such things that Satan delights in. We, as believers, are clearly told in your word to avoid such things. May people searching find the comfort that knowing you brings. Give us discernment of all false prophets in many disguises in this world today.

Dear Lord,

As we grow older, more aches and pains invade our bodies and our hearts. Growing old is a blessing for the time spent with loved ones and our opportunities to show love to one another, yet, the older we get, the more heart aches we experience and our aging bodies experience pain too. Thank you for our daily strength but also thank you that we know it is temporary and an eternity awaits us without pain and sorrow.

Dear Lord,

Throughout my day, remind me that my actions reflect my beliefs. As the song goes, "They will know we are Christians by our love", may my deeds be a display of your love.
